Charlotte Alington Barnard (neé Pye), born in Louth in 1830, was, under her pen name of Claribel, one of the most popular and successful song writers of the Victorian period. Singer Kate Witney, who is also from Louth, will tell the eventful story of Charlotte's life and sing some of her songs. In addition, Kate will share how she has used material in Lincolnshire archives as well as census and other information in her research.

Kate Witney was born in Louth and studied at Homerton College, Cambridge and The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She has appeared as soloist in venues such as The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, The Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham and Lincoln, Southwark and Versailles Cathedrals.
