We might be surprised that the Royal Mail Service was made available when Charles I was our King in 1635, followed some 25 years later by the General Post Office being established by his son, Charles II. Fred Leadbetter wasn’t around in those days. Although Fred’s interest in postcards doesn’t go back as far as that, to see part of his collection is a real treat.

At our Wednesday evening meeting on 19th February, we will all benefit when he shares some of his postcards of Lincolnshire. Not just the pictures and messages they contain, but also a history lesson as well. You will not be disappointed! It is free as well: cheaper than a 2nd class stamp!

Fred has been collecting postcards for decades and has amassed a vast array of images that tell the story of Lincolnshire's past. From scenic landscapes to bustling market towns, each postcard offers a unique glimpse into the region's rich heritage. His passion for postcards is infectious, and his anecdotes about the people and places featured on them will surely captivate us all. So, don't miss this opportunity to learn and enjoy an evening of nostalgia and history.
